Thomas Jefferson was the third and certainly one of the most accomplished presidents of the United States. As the original author of the Declaration of Independance and through his strong beliefs in democracy and civil rights, Jefferson will always be remembered as one of the founding fathers of the American Nation as we know it today.

The Jefferson Memorial lies on the south bank of the Tindal Basin in West Potomac Park. The large white marble structure houses an impressive 19 foot bronze statue of the former president.
